The name Suvereto DOCG represents one of the most important wine-growing areas of the Tuscany region.
The name Suvereto DOCG includes the provinces of Livorno and was created in 2011.
The wines of the denomination Suvereto DOCG are based mainly on the Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot vines.
The name Suvereto DOCG is reserved for wines that, in the habit of their types, are vinified from grapes of the following vines:
- Suvereto DOCG: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in variable proportions
- Suvereto Sangiovese DOCG: Sangiovese min. 85%
- Suvereto Merlot DOCG: Merlot min. 85%
- Suvereto Cabernet Sauvignon DOCG: Cabernet Sauvignon min. 85%
The production area includes the entire territory of the municipality of Suvereto, in the province of Livorno (Tuscany).
The Suvereto, Suvereto Sangiovese, Suvereto Merlot and Suvereto Cabernet Sauvignon DOCG wines, with a minimum alcoholic strength of 13.00% and aged for a period of not less than 24 months, of which at least 18 in oak containers, can obtain the qualification “reserve”.
The wines of the typologies included in the denomination Suvereto DOCG are characterized by a modest acidity level. Their color is ruby red, intense and deep, which with aging evolves towards garnet.
The aroma is intense, elegant, ample, with characteristic notes of the vines of origin. The taste is warm and dry, rightly tannic, with spicy notes and hints of wood in aged products, which are enriched with time, aromas, aromas and flavors more intense, consistent and persistent.
